Membership is open to all persons having an interest in quilts. A person may attend two regular meetings as a guest before being required to join. "Junior" memberships are open to youth ages 7 - 18.
With your paid membership, you are eligible for the following:
1. Monthly door prizes - you can win the door prize if your membership number is picked and if you are wearing your Quilt Guild Name Tag.
2. Birthday fabric - Members whose birthday falls during the current month are asked to bring 1/2 yard of pre-washed, 100% cotton fabric. All Guild members may then buy chances to win the fabric for $.25 a chance.
3. Block of the Month - Each month, blocks will be presented by the Block Exchange Chair to be made for the block exchange the following month. If you wish to participate, you may make one or more blocks and put your name in the basket for a chance to win all the blocks (one chance for each block entered).
4. Show and Tell - Each month, the Guild is treated to its own mini Quilt Show. A special time in each meeting has been saved for members to come to the front of the room and show their quilts or projects. Visitors may participate in Show and Tell.
5. Charm Squares - Members may sign up to participate in a monthly charm square swap. Each month we are told how many 6" squares to bring and what color/theme of fabric will be exchanged the following month. A great way to add to your "stash".
6. Hospitality - Snacks are provided at the beginning of each meeting. Our members are great cooks too!
7. Library - The Guild is fortunate to have an excellent library of quilting books and magazines available to all Guild members. Members may check out books and magazines for one month by signing the card found in the front of each item.
8. Quilter Pals - The Guild offers a "secret pal" program called Quilter Pals. Members may participate by filling out a questionnaire at the December meeting. Members in the Quilter Pal program receive gifts and cards throughout the year. Quilter Pals are revealed at the Christmas Party each year.
9. Annual Quilt Challenge - Guild members are presented with an opportunity each year to participate in a judged Quilt Challenge. The Challenge Chair chooses the color scheme, theme or fabrics and supplies the members with directions that must be followed. Judging and showing of the quilts takes place at the November meeting.
10. Retreats - Several retreats are scheduled each year for members to "get away" and sew to their hearts content. The schedule is simple: eat - quilt. Sleeping is optional.
Remember - the more you participate, the more you'll enjoy the Quilt Guild. | |
